79% of Latinos Consume Their Information in English

An analyst from Voto Latino*, Maria Teresa Peterson,  made a very interesting observation on MSNBC during their Super Tuesday coverage. She pointed out that political candidates who reach out to the Latino community generally make the mistake of buying lots of media ads in Spanish speaking media even though 79% of Latinos consume their information in English. She indicated that Latinos care more about whether candidates address the issues they care about, whether in English or in Spanish. Candidates would do well to keep her advice in mind and make sure they communicate their positions about issues to the Latino community in both English and Spanish.

*Voto Latino is a non-profit and non-partisan organziation focused on voter registration within the Latino community.
